Peter E. Baier

I lived in the same Studentenheim as Peter during my two semesters at Mannheim University 1972/73 during which time we shared many adventures, drank a lot of beer, and travelled to Paris, Alsace, Austria and once to Saarbruecken.  We kept in touch until 1993 and I was planning to get in touch once again now I am retired.  I am terribly shocked to learn of both his death and the death of his dear wife, Maria.  I consider Peter a very dear friend who had a mischievous personality but who was very kind to a lonely, naive, young student many years ago.  I will miss his companionship and good humour and I bitterly regret not being able to meet him one more time.  Rest in peace, Peter.
